What is Divine Energy?

Source Energy. It is the constant flow of power that connects us to our soul and to the Universe. Divine Energy is known as God to some. It is the celestial energy within all of us.

Divine Energies transcend gender. The “feminine” and “masculine” are nomenclature to categorize different traits that exist either in dominance or balance within each of us, at all times. You may also hear them referred to as yin (feminine) & yang (masculine) energies.

Imbalance in either energy is not lack, it’s opportunity. The importance is in the pursuit of balance - the journey, not the destination.

It’s quite normal to lean more to one side versus the other.
Read just some of the characteristics below and see which resonate with you.

Below we have some ideas to help you embrace your Divine Feminine Energy. Choose your favorite form of self expression and add your own in the comments below!

1. Celebrate your physical form.

flexibility, play, heightened connection with body, embracing sensuality, passive resistance

Dance, skip, run, twirl. Has it been a while since you worked up a real sweat? Get your heart pumping.

Consider taking a moment for a deep stretch. Focus on the area of your body building the most heat. Breathe into that space. Send thoughts of love and thanks to that target spot. Envision the warmth spreading throughout the rest of your body. Bring awareness to the quality of your breath, the temperature of the air as it touches your skin and the areas of your body calling out for a little extra attention.

At the end of whatever you choose to do, stand in front of a mirror and say something kind about your body. It earns your gratitude every day for the movement and beauty it offers to you.

2. Dig into your roots.

vulnerable, nurturing, sensitive, reflective, emotional, wisdom

Set aside time to do the powerful work of reflection in these three spaces:

Inner child work.
We are not solely the age we are at this moment. Our age represents the many years living inside of us at once. Inner child work allows us to reflect upon trauma, repressed memories and patterns with more compassion than we afford ourselves as grown adults.

Shadow work.
A great place to start here is noticing moments when you’re judging others as that is often a reflection of unconscious issues of our own. When exploring our shadow side we unearth traits, both “good” and “bad,” that we’ve deemed undesirable and attempted to snuff out.

Ancestral work.
Talk to your family members about the women in your history. Encourage the full, honest history. What is there to learn? What is there to be grateful for? What generational trauma might need healing? How can you reconnect with a family member you don’t want to be estranged from?

Note: There’s evidence that we may experience trauma by proxy. Be sure if you’re going to do this deep dive that you have a mental health professional within reach. It’s not a bad idea to have a therapist or counselor available for inner child and shadow work as well.

3. Seek out a guide or guides.

connection, openness, community, empathy, receiving

Is there a woman in your life you admire? Perhaps you can be mutual guides / accountability buddies for one another. What can you learn from conversations with the women you interact with? Who in your life lifts you up? Nourish these relationships.

What about women more on your periphery or perhaps someone you haven’t even met yet? Consider seeking mentorships through work or a mentor matching program.

Since I’m a grade A introvert, that sounds horrifying and pretty taxing to me. I usually find women I admire and read their books, follow their social media, watch their classes and listen to their podcasts. Right now I’m soaking in everything I can from Valarie Kaur and Roxane Gay.

4. Spend time in nature.

growth, interconnectedness, nurture, sensory, healing

We’re huge proponents of forest bathing here at Boundless. Nature heals us, so why not take a moment to heal her in kind? There are myriad ways to care for nature.

Leave no trace after a visit

Tend to the soil.

Join beach clean ups.

Volunteer for trail maintenance.

Purchase items with intention - materials & mission.

Plant more native greenery in your yard.

Sign up for a plot at your local community garden.

Shop local for plants for your apartment.

Propagate from a loved one’s foliage.

Join organizations like Climate Action Now, where you help plant in otherwise desolate urban spaces.

Recycle. Reduce. Reuse.

5. Cultivate your intuition.

creation, imagination, intuition, play, vulnerable, openness

Connecting with your unconscious mind is my personal favorite form of honoring our feminine sensing side. You get to take moments to let go, play and drift. So much of our modern life is designed to fetter us. It is essential that we make time to be free.

Meditate.

Get creative without setting parameters. Put color to paper with no predetermined destination.

Ask questions.

Peruse your social media. What sparks your interest? Spend some time scrolling through images on Pinterest, Insta and Tumblr or visiting sites of artists you love.

Practice self-reflection.

Go to a museum, gallery or local shop. What are you drawn to? What lights you up? Purchase a gift for yourself if you can.

Write down your dreams.

Make decisions. Muffle your inner-Libra. Don’t luxuriate in possibilities. Next time you’re faced with multiple options, don’t think through each of them at length. Listen and decide as quickly as possible.

6. Make time for self-care.

repose, stillness, nurture, gentleness, devotion

Self-care is a necessity for women. If you identify as a woman, you already know that our burden in society outweighs most others. We generally get paid less, while taking on more responsibility and debt. Our tireless advocacy efforts are responsible for the avoidance of utter collapse - especially thanks to women of color… especially thanks to Black women. Even though we are more educated, we hold fewer leadership positions and lack representation in male-dominated fields. The majority of child-rearing responsibilities often fall on us, despite the fact that we carry similar workloads to our partners.

I can’t go on at the moment because now I have a stomach ache. Are you also getting pissed off and stressed? That’s why we have to be intentional about setting aside time to recharge. We have a lot of shit we need to be ready for! We cannot fill up all these cups if our own sits empty. Here are a few ideas:

Set boundaries.

Take a nap.

Have a snack you loved as a child.

Say no.

Rewatch your favorite movie.

Forgive yourself.

Create a date night for yourself.

Arrange flowers.

Call your best friend for a chat.

7. Reflect on your relationship with traditional femininity.

sensing, expressiveness, altruism, depth, understanding

Bringing awareness to how you move through the world helps you do so with more intention. Spend some time with our Women’s History Month journal prompts to reflect on your relationship with the gender constructs created within our society.

What programming do we carry within our identities? What could the world look like without our various social constructs? How can you interact with people more openly and with increased acceptance?

If we carve out time to consider greater possibilities and use our collective imaginations, we will make significant strides in achieving a less divided society.
